TBA Stallion Parade at Tattersalls on February 2

TBA Stallion Parade at Tattersalls on February 2

25th January 2012

The popular Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Stallion Parade will take place at Tattersalls on Thursday February 2 at 10am.

The event, supported by Tattersalls and British Bloodstock Marketing, will see 15 stallions parade in the main ring at Tattersalls with commentary given by Sam Sheppard and Matt Coleman. The stallions will also be available for inspection in Further Paddocks after the parade.

The 15 stallions on parade highlight the quality and diversity of the British stallion roster in 2012.

Among the top-class performers on show will be the 2,000 Guineas winner Makfi, also successful in the Prix Jacques le Marois (Tweenhills Farm & Stud), and the dual Guineas victor Cockney Rebel (The National Stud).

Stallions with their first foals on the ground this year include the top sprinter Equiano (Newsells Park Stud), the Coventry Stakes winner Hellvelyn (Bucklands Farm & Stud), and the Gimcrack Stakes winner Showcasing (Whitsbury Manor Stud).

Archipenko (Lanwades Stud), Captain Gerrard (Mickley Stud) and Virtual (Cheveley Park Stud) are all represented by their first yearlings this year, while the eagerly-awaited first runners by Mount Nelson (Newsells Park Stud) will debut this season.

Among the newcomers to stud this year that will be on parade are the dual Group 1 winner Dick Turpin (The National Stud) and the high-class sprinter Prime Defender (Hedgeholme Stud), as well as Aussie Rules who is continuing his stallion career at Lanwades Stud, and Indian Haven who has made the move from Ireland to Withyslade Farm in Wiltshire.

Also on parade will be Notnowcato (Stanley House Stud) who made an excellent start last year with his first two-year-olds, and Sakhee, standing at Nunnery Stud, who enjoyed Group 1 success last year with Presvis in Dubai and Hong Kong and Tin Horse in France.

For more information, contact the Thoroughbred Breeders Association.

The Tattersalls February Sale will get underway at 10.30am, immediately after the parade, with a catalogue of 298 mares, stallions, yearlings and horses in and out of training on offer. To view the catalogue, click here.
