First Time Thoroughbred Horse Buyers
British Bloodstock Marketing will be on site at all times to offer practical assistance, information and advice to help make your time at British sales an enjoyable and an uncomplicated experience.
At British sales, your new purchase becomes your liability from the moment the hammer falls. This means it will be to be insured immediately, and you will need to arrange transport for your horse from the sales ground to either its new home or a temporary boarding facility.
If you are visiting from abroad you can take advantage of the excellent Inward Buyers Initiative. This scheme, run by the BHA and TBA in conjunction with Tattersalls and DBS, entitles you a partial refund of your travel costs to Britain, provided the horse you have bought costs £5,250 (5,000gns) or more.
The reimbursement is based on the cost of an Apex fare from your country, and all that is needed to take advantage of this scheme is your proof of purchase at the sales and valid travel documents.
If you are interested in taking advantage of the Initiative you should complete and send the relevant application form as soon as possible before the sale you wish to attend. You can complete both forms online at the sales house’s websites
British sales companies produce a "guide to buyers" that is recommended reading for the new buyer. To view click here for DBS, here for Tattersalls and here for Birghtwells.
