I have bought a horse at the sales. Who should I contact to arrange the shipping?
There are many transport companies based in Britain that would be willing to transport your horse back to your home. Some specialise in different countries and may have other horses going to the same destination, which could save you time and money.

How do I register as an owner in Britain?
There are many benefits to becoming an owner and it is a simple and easy process. You need to contact the ownership department at Weatherbys and they will give you a step by step guide to registering your colours. Contact Weatherbys on +44 (0)1933 440077 and ask for the ownership department.

I am looking to board a mare I bought at the sales in Britain. Who do I contact?
There are many stud farms in Britain that offer permanent and/or temporary boarding facilities to suit your needs and budget. You may be looking to buy a mare and keep her in Britain all year round or bring your mare from abroad to visit a stallion and have her in Britain for a short time. It is best to look for a farm either near the stallion she will be visiting or near the sales houses for convenience. If you need information on farms in a specific area in Britain contact the BBM.

I would like to race my horse in Britain. Who should I contact?
If you own a horse in training outside the UK and would like to campaign your horse in a race in Britain you should contact the International Racing Bureau. They will be able to offer advice on the racing programme together with assisting with the logistics of bringing your horse over on a temporary basis to race in the UK. I would like to follow the results of a horse that I sold in Britain. Where should I look?
The simplest way to see the results of a horse is on the Racing Post website www.racingpost.co.uk. Enter the name of the horse in the search option and the results will appear in front of you. For details of the race, click on the date.

How can I receive a catalogue for an upcoming sale?
If you wish to receive a catalogue for upcoming sales you can either contact the Sales companies directly by visiting the sales section of the BBM website or you can contact the BBM info@bbm.gb.com. You will be required to email the catalogue(s) you wish to be sent, your full address together with a contact telephone number and country code.

If you are new to the industry there are plenty of courses that can help you gain the experience you need to work in the industry:
The BHA offers an 8 week Graduate Training Programme, which runs from end of June to end of August every year. Applications open October of the previous year with the selection process in March and placement is during the last two weeks in June followed by two month work experience placement - For more information contact info@careersinracing.com
